After executing the hydropower plant project, BKPM is now overseeing investment for the airport Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. Today 21 January 2020 at BKPM office, BKPM Deputy Chairman for Investment Planning, Ikmal Lukman, witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PT. Nindya Karya (Persero) and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND) and Korea Rail Network Authority (KRNA) regarding I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Light Rail Transit (LRT) construction plan to the Jineng Satellite Terminal.
“The signing of this MoU is a follow-up to the MoU between BKPM and KIND on our visit to South Korea in September last year”, Ikmal said in his statement after the MoU signing. BKPM also urges investors to partner with local SMEs which will benefit surrounding communities.
Through this MoU, the planned construction of the 4.78 KM I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport LRT will take approximately 1.5 - 2 years with an investment of Rp 5 Trillion. The LRT will have four stations between the Jineng satellite terminal and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
“The current project is the first step that will continue in the development of green city and TOD in Seminyak and Kuta, on this occasion we also thank BKPM for continuing to assist and oversee the realization of our investments”, said acting President Director of PT Nindya Karya Haedar A Karim.
The construction of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport LRT aims to facilitate users and is expected to improve connectivity between the Jineng satellite terminal in Kuta and the Ngurah Rai Airport. In addition, LRT can be an alternative mode of transportation to the airport that reduces traffic congestion around the airport.
The signing was carried out by the acting President Director of PT Nindya Karya Haedar A. Karim, KIND Executive Director Lim Han Gyu and KRNA Executive Director Son Byeong Doo and witnessed by BKPM Deputy Chairman for Investment Planning, Ikmal Lukman and Attache Representative Korean Embassy Jakarta Kim Dong-Jin.
